I'm a roving soul with a real passion for ideas. My living is currently made as an Interactive developer with an ActionScript specialty, helping various agencies dream up unique website concepts and make them a reality.
I live and work in New York City — but my heart is with my hometown of Portland, Oregon, an absolutely wonderful city. Years ago when I was just getting involved in the digital world I co-founded the Goto+Play Network there with a buddy of mine (who continues to manage it today, I ducked out when we moved). Goto is now buzzing with a huge pool of local designers, coders & motion artists and I'm proud to have helped Robert build that community with classes, events and digital film-fests.
A few years ago I created a set of animation tools for ActionScript developers called the Fuse Kit and was quite surprised with its almost-overnight adoption around the world. Fuse appeals to graphic designers with little coding skill all the way through to the über-geek set, by boiling a bunch of common challenges into a streamlined & intuitive system. (Much like a silky balsamic reduction sauce. mmm... Fuse..)
There's still plenty of room for good ideas out there. My curiosity for transportation, aviation, robotics, energy technologies and green engineering currently competes with my longstanding interest in UI design & coding. It's easy to forget that all of these shiny new gadgets are not an end in themselves. Technologies that last are byproducts of the advancement of human technique and capability. And that is really the exciting part.
On occasion I collaborate with my wife Georgia and her company in their many performance-related activities. Hopefully someday I'll come back around to doing art & music, there's just too much good stuff out there!
Thanks for stopping by~!
